Great Grey Owl

Great Grey Owls (Strix nebulosa) inhabit the coniferous forests of northern North America and Asia, Diet consists mostly of small mammals. Females are slightly larger than males. When ground is snow covered, Great Greys can hunt by hearing alone, plunging into the snow talons first to capture animals moving beneath the surface. Average height 28 inches; average wingspan 56 inches; average weight 3 pounds.
